i've been to the refinery a couple of times for a mid-day iced latte on sundays, but today was the first time i've tried their lunch menu in a long while. here's the link to the last time i lunched there. the interior has switched up quite a bit – they've ditched the sofa seatings for a couple more communal tables, and they've changed the chairs as well. needless to say, the menu has also been given a refresher. what you can find now on their menu is about 5-6 types of rice bowls, and one noodle option.
that said, if you're looking for scrambled eggs served on a croissant, this is not the place for you.

here's what i liked best, in descending order:
- the freaking dessert, duh. sea salt caramel + berries + waffle (which wasn't that fantastic but ehhh i love anything floury)
- iced macadamia nut latte – not pictured here, but soooo good
- salted egg yolk onion rings. these were so good when eaten warm, so if you have to snap a few pics, do it fast. seriously, tried and tested
- the teriyaki rice bowl is rated the last because of the fat in the chicken!!! nasty. i'm used to eating grilled chicken thigh + breast with the fat removed, cos my mum does it at home. and anyway the gelatinous texture of fat is just disgusting to me.
the portions of the rice bowls are huge, so no complaints there. if you ordered the lunch set, you'd get a bitesized piece of agedashi tofu that was extremely yummy, with seaweed flavouring. it was definitely a great lunch.
brb, gonna lust over that ice cream dessert like now.
