Time flies – it's already the third year we're celebrating the Boy From The Bus Stop's birthday!
So on the actual day itself, I took a cab over to his place to surprise him with a cake that I'd baked, together with his gift and a card! I was texting his mum the entire day + night just so the plan would be flawless and he wouldn't suspect a thing. It was quite fun since I am not a surprise kinda person and I don't care for surprising people. But I guess once in a while is still acceptable haha.
I baked a banana chocolate chip cake, and added a vanilla icing. Icing is a real bitch or maybe I'm just not destined for the kitchen. ANyway, the cake was really gross. I followed the recipe of some clean-eating healthfreak, and the amount of flour and sugar used was quite minimum! To be honest, the cake tasted quite good – the flavours and everything was quite on point. But the texture was just weird, like some kinda wet scone. Just..... weird. It didn't crumble or anything.
So lesson #01 learnt: "healthy" cakes are disgusting cakes.
Lesson #02: the kitchen is not meant for everyone.

On Friday, we had his birthday meal at GastroSmiths. They served east-meets-west fusion food. Not bad – this coming from a fussy eater.
The fries were really good!!!! Look at the amount of shaved parmesan!!!!! I love fries. I can refrain from fast food but if a cafe serves fries, I HAVE to order it.
Had the atlantic cod meesua, which was fried in sambal. Cod was good and cooked to perfection! Meesua was ok only.
Danial's Hokubee Ribeye Bowl, served with an egg cooked at 63º.

We were doing some shopping after lunch and decided to have "fun" in a fitting room. So this is actually how we dance. No wonder they say birds of the same feather flock together LOL

Saturday saw us heading to Creamier, followed by watch shopping in the city.
The gula melaka + thai iced tea flavours were damn good!!!!!
Oh we do have fun sometimes ♡
